Q1: What is the difference between DIN 125 and BS 4320 brass washers?

Both cover metric flat washers but with slightly different dimensions. BS 4320 offers Form A (normal OD) and Form B (wider OD), while DIN 125 A provides normal dimensions and DIN 125 B adds a chamfered inner hole. The ODs and thicknesses differ slightly between the two standards. Always specify the exact standard on your drawing to avoid substitution errors in production.

Q2: Are ANSI/ASME B18.22.1 washers dimensioned in inches?

Yes. ANSI/ASME B18.22.1 covers plain washers in inch sizes for US standard fastener dimensions — bolt sizes from No. 2 through 3 inches nominal. Type A covers narrow, regular, wide, and extra-wide series. For metric applications in the USA, ISO 7089 or DIN 125 washers are specified instead. Q3: What brass alloy is used for standard stamped washers?

CZ108 (C28000, 60% Cu 40% Zn, Muntz metal) is the most economical and widely used alloy for stamped brass washers. CZ107 (C27000, 65/35) and CZ106 (C26000 cartridge brass, 70/30) are used where greater ductility or corrosion resistance is needed. CZ121 (C36000 free-machining brass) is for machined washers only, not stamped production.

Q4: Can you supply brass washers with nickel or tin plating?

Yes. Electroless or electrolytic nickel plating (5 to 10 microns) and bright tin plating (5 to 15 microns) are available on brass flat washers. Nickel plating improves corrosion and wear resistance; tin plating improves solderability and contact conductivity for electronic assembly applications. Lacquered brass washers are also available for decorative hardware.

Q6: Do you manufacture brass washers to ISO 7089 and ISO 7090?

Yes. ISO 7089 (plain washers, normal series, product grade A) and ISO 7090 (plain washers with chamfered inner hole, product grade A) are standards we produce to. ISO 7089 dimensions align closely with DIN 125 A. ISO 7091 (product grade C, wider tolerances for general engineering) is also available. We can cross-certify to both ISO and DIN on the same production run.

For standard sizes M3 to M16 and ANSI No. 8 to 5/8 inch in CZ108 bright finish, we can supply from 1,000 pieces per size. Yes. Brass sealing washers with bonded EPDM, Nitrile, Viton, or PTFE inserts for BSP, JIC, and metric hydraulic fittings are manufactured to customer specifications. They work at pressures up to 400 bar. The brass body provides better crush resistance than aluminium in high-torque fitting applications and resists dezincification when DZR brass is specified.

Leaded brass alloys such as CZ120 with 2 to 3 percent lead are exempt under RoHS Directive Annex III exemption 6(a) which covers copper alloys with up to 4 percent lead by weight. For applications where this exemption does not apply, we supply washers in lead-free brass alloys such as CW510L or CZ106.
